Cubist Cameras
Turn your mug-shots into a Picasso! The idea is easy: take several snaps, cut bits out, composite and paint. The practice is a little harder.
Pre-requisite knowledge: You will need:
  • Good programming skills
  • Good mathematical skills
  • An interest in Computer Vision and Computer Graphics
Indicative reading: Any book on Image Processing/Computer Vision, there are many in the library, will give broad background. Look on the WWW for face recognition and mug-shot processing.
What shape is a teapot?
Turn your photographs into modern Art. Cut objects from a photo, deform the objects into it nearest regular shape (eg circle, square, triangle), paste it back in to the photo. You will need to solve several interesting problems to complete this project.
Pre-requisite knowledge:
  • Good programming skills
  • Good mathematical skills
  • An interest in Computer Vision and Computer Graphics
Filling holes
Cut an object from a photo. Fill the hole it leaves using surrounding texture. Not easy, but solutions exist.
Pre-requisite knowledge:
  • Good programming skills
  • Good mathematical skills
  • An interest in Computer Vision and Computer Graphics
Drawing an example
Take a photo, and a painting of it. Take a new photo, generate a painting in the style of the example. The technical solution is suprisingly straight forward.
Pre-requisite knowledge:
  • Good programming skills
  • Decent mathematical skills
  • An interest in Computer Vision and Computer Graphics
Your own project?
I will consider any proposals using Computer Vision and / or Computer Graphics.
