Dear Colleagues,
Here is some more information about the seminars next
week, on Tuesday Feb 11 and Weds Feb 12. They are all concerned with
real algebraic and analytic geometry. We have room 8w2.10 booked from
9.15 to 10.05, and also from 11.15 to 12.05 on Tuesday Feb 11. We
also have 1w3.10 booked on Weds at 15.15.
9.15 Tuesday: Savvas Pericleous, Methods for cylindrical decomposition of
restricted semi Pfaffian sets
9.35 Tuesday : Nicolai Vorobjov, Betti numbers of definable sets
11.15 Tuesday: Prof Niels Schwartz, (the central coordinator of the raag
network) , Category theoretic methods in semi algebraic geometry
3.15 Wednesday :James Beaumont, Simplification and cylindrical
decomposition
3.35 Wedsnesday :Daniel Richardson, 1) Diophantine consequences of O
minimality (results of A Wilkie); 2) Counterexamples to the uniformity
conjecture.
We will all make an effort to make everything comprehensible. For
example, in my talk I really will explain what O minimality is, and give
an example of a Diophantine consequence. So even if
this does not look familiar to you, you might like to attend.
Some preprints will be available.
Please note the time on Wednesday (not 1.15 but 3.15).
Thanks,
Daniel Richardson
