Travel Directions

Getting to the UK

Bristol Airport is a growing regional airport, 30 minutes drive from Bath, with regular domestic and (European) short haul connections. A full list of airlines and flights can be reached through their website below (select "Destinations" and then the "Scheduled" tab for a list of airports and links to the corresponding airline).
See http://www.bristolairport.co.uk/
On arrival in Bristol, the easiest way to Bath is by taxi (available at the airport), though a cheaper alternative may be to take the shuttle to Bristol Temple Meads railway station and then a train to Bath (see Rail information below).

For other flight alternatives and all long haul origins/destinations, Heathrow Airport is approximately 1 1/2 to 2 hours drive away. Flights can be booked through most travel agents or online, by following the link below.
http://www.baa.co.uk/main/airports/heathrow/
The drive from Heathrow to Bath is relatively simple - full instructions are at UK Multimap - Heathrow to Bath.

Alternatively a rail shuttle can be taken to London Paddington where a connection on to Bath is available (see getting to Bath: Rail) below.

Getting to Bath

Aside from the flight options, above, Bath can also be reached by Rail, Coach or Car:

Rail:

Bath Spa station is on the main line between London (Paddington) and Wales/Cornwall. See http://www.rail.co.uk/ukrail/planner/planner.htm for full timetable and booking information.

Once at the station, both the University and City Centre Hotels are a short taxi ride away (taxis are available at the station).

Coach:

The bus station is next door to the train station and serves as the hub for both national express coaches:

and the local bus service:
http://www.firstbadgerline.co.uk/
Again, upon arrival at the station, the final leg of your journey can be achieved by taxi (there is a taxi rank in front of the train station)

Road:

Bath is approximately 10 miles from junction 18 of the M4. Instructions for the drive from the motorway to the University are available via UK Multimap - M4 to University or from the motorway to the town centre are at UK Multimap - M4 to Town Centre.

At the University

The workshop is being held in rooms 8W 1.33 and 8W 1.34. 8 West is on the west side of the campus. For those taking a taxi to the university they should ask the driver to drop them by the building 8 West.

See campus maps.
