The Challenge of Convergence

Convergence Community Session 10th July 2003

A session within the IMA Vision, Video, and Graphics International Conference 2003. This is an opportunity to explore:

  • Opportunities for convergence to happen both within the UK, the EU and internationally.
  • How to bring people together
  • How we might take convergence forward
The EPSRC has a range of mechanisms to support the development of research at this convergence. We would encourage consideration of
  • A Convergence Network
  • Summer Schools to train postgraduate students (& others) at the convergence
  • Overseas travel grants and visiting fellowships

Registration

This session is an integral part of the VVG conference and delegates should register with the conference. The conference website is www.cs.bath.ac.uk/vvg/

Position Papers

To encourage discussion during the session, papers are invited that explore the following areas:
  1. To gain a better understanding of the `community’ interpretation of the area
  2. To identify research priorities
  3. To identify funding needs and mechanisms
Position papers of ~ 3 pages may be sent in electronically no later than 5pm on the 27th June 2003 to mark.hylton@epsrc.ac.uk. All position papers will be considered regardless of attendance at the conference.
