Traffic Simulation: An Experiment in Virtual Reality Paulo Gonçalves de Barros (with Judith Kelner) Abstract Traffic simulation is a well-known problem in Computer Science, having been approached in many different ways. Three-dimensional simulation models have been developed to make user navigation and user interaction with the presented traffic data possible. Nevertheless, few of these models are extended to give support to virtual reality devices, and the ones extended have limited applicability, due to its dependence on a specific computational architecture. The present work aims to adapt a traffic simulation model to an immersive virtual reality device for PC, presenting the positive and negative aspects of the resulting model.
